The Importance of Quality in the Histology Pathway
Since the 19th century, the practice of tissue processing has remained largely unchanged, resulting in solidified, paraffin-embedded tissue blocks for sectioning. As staining procedures have advanced and immunohistochemistry is becoming more widely used, high-quality tissue sections are paramount for accurately interpreting disease processes. At each processing stage, many variables require consideration to eliminate artifacts and preserve tissue morphology to ensure high-quality sectioning. This talk will review basic strategies to develop best laboratory practices and protocols from the beginning of the histology workflow, which results in good quality sections to minimize the need for repeat downstream testing. Once the tissue has been processed well, getting good sections placed onto the glass slide should be easier; however, this is not always the case, with some cases proving challenging to cut. In this section of the talk, we will review the basics of embedding and sectioning, including paraffin types, molds, blades, and slides, as well as a discussion of artifacts. We will then present the “tricks of the trade” or “histology hacks” that almost every seasoned histologist has kept secret until now.

Navigating and Avoiding Workplace Discrimination: Strategies for a Fair and Inclusive Environment?
In today's diverse and dynamic workplace, understanding and addressing discrimination is critical to fostering a fair and inclusive environment. This Session "Navigating and Aoifng Workplace Discrimination"-; Strategies for a Fair and Inclusive Environment, will equip attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to identify, navigate, and prevent workplace discrimination. Using this engaging and interactive session, participants will explore the various forms of discrimination and how to avoid them as well as address them. From subtle-aggressions to overt discriminatory acts. Through real-life cases and examples, attendees will gain insight into the impact of discrimination in the workplace.

  Labratory Safety
Review laboratory safety, discuss top OSHA violations and incidents found in the laboratory Discuss the principal OSHA Laboratory Safety guidance and what is required. Most common safety deficiencies found at survey in the histology laboratory.
$99.00
RNAScope and Spatial Genomic Applications in Histology
This webinar will introduce RNAscope, an advanced in situ hybridization technology that enables the precise detection and visualization of RNA within tissue samples. Attendees will learn how this method enhances spatial and molecular insights beyond traditional staining techniques.

EDTA: The Push for Increasing Molecular Yield
There is an increased interest in utilization of EDTA for decalcification of bone and bone marrow specimens. This stems from a need to improve downstream testing results for molecular, DNA, and RNA assays. The issue with this is the time it takes to achieve proper decalcification. This workshop will discuss the following 1. Why is EDTA considered optimal for molecular testing? 2. How beneficial is using EDTA when performing DNA/RNA assays? 3. What methods/instrumentation can be used to accelerate this process?
$99.00
  Basics of IHC
This is an introductory webinar designed to provide a foundational understanding of immunohistochemistry (IHC) principles and techniques. Participants will learn about antibody selection, staining methods, and troubleshooting common challenges in IHC workflows. This session is ideal for beginners looking to build confidence and accuracy in interpreting IHC results in the laboratory setting.

Preservation of tophi in modified GMS for urates
There are several variations of laboratory procedures to preserve and demonstrate monosodium urate (MSU) crystals in tissue for the diagnosis of gout. MSU is water soluble and washed away in most staining solutions, so these procedures generally necessitate two slides; one which is silver stained and one which is left unstained to confirm the negative birefringence of MSU when viewed under polarized light. The modified Gomori's methenamine silver (GMS) for urates is an underutilized procedure which provides sensitive, high-contrast staining of MSU crystals. Additionally, we have observed that MSU deposits are preserved in the stained sections, allowing for examination by polarized light and subsequent diagnosis with only one slide.
